Dobutsuen-mae station is an underground zoo in Osaka. The name itself means “in front of the zoo” and is the nearest stop for Tennōji Zoo and it is also the stop for Shinsekai. To be honest I’m not a huge fan of zoo’s but for this urban underground zoo I like to make an exception. It’s one of my favorite metro stations in Japan, all the walls are covered with animals and the station is a bit dark and gritty like everything else in Osaka. In other words a beautiful hidden underground gem for some street photography.
